Mary-anne's Mince Pies

These pies are from Mary-Anne's food blog (of Series 2 British Bake off fame) and I made them with my friend Ali (todayimade.com). The pastry is made from butter and lard but we used only butter and it was still lovely. These pies are different because the pastry is flavoured with orange zest and brought together at the end with orange juice rather than egg/water. There is also a layer of lemon cream cheese inside the pies. You will not want a traditional mince pie one you have tried these!

Double Chocolate Fairy Cakes

These delicious cakes some from Peyton and Bryne's excellent "British Baking" book.

Tip: We found using chocolate with anything less than 70% cocoa solids resulted in a cake which looked too pale and lacked flavour.

Dave's Delicious Dunkers

I started baking about a year ago, after having my arm twisted into participating in a few charity cake sales at work.  The second time I took to the kitchen was to try to emulate Miss Millies cookies... about 1,000 cookies later they are reknowned across friends and the office alike.  Here's how to bake the perfect cookie.
